Fastweb to launch 100 Mbps service through FTTH

Fastweb will launch the first 100 Mbit/s internet access service in Italy dedicated to small- and medium-sized enterprises before the year end leveraging its FTTH network.

Fastweb’s fibre optic network, avalaible in selected Italian cities, covers 2 million potential customers and it is believed to be the most extensive fibre optic infrastructure in Europe.
Now Fastweb has about 250.000 customers connected through FTTH.

Telecom Italia confirmed again today that it will not push a FTTH-only strategy to deploy its NGN access network.

Instead, Telecom Italia will adopy a multi-technology strategy depending on market environment and demands using a mix of FTTH, FTTB, FTTCab and VDSL2.

At FTTH Council Europe to be held in Paris on February 27th & 28th, Prysmian Cables & Systems will be exhibiting the latest additions to its growing FTTH product portfolio including VertiCasa, its innovative cable solution for providing fibre connections to customers in high rise buildings and multi dwelling units (MDUs).

Other products on display will include the Quickdraw pre-connectorized system and
HEADROW, Prysmian’s unique micro trench cable solution.
