LTE trial in Turin

Telecom Italia is now operating a pre-commercial trial of “4G” LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology in Turin.

The trial, which is being conducted in Turin with technology partner Huawei, uses 14 new LTE radio stations around the centre of town which are perfectly integrated into the existing mobile infrastructure. Continue reading ‘LTE trial in Turin’

Vodafone half-year 2009 results

Vodafone Italia published its half-year results for the six months ended 30 September 2009.

Service revenue increased by 2.3% to € 4,291 m.

Growth in the current quarter slowed slightly in comparison to the previous quarter with positive momentum being maintained despite tougher economic conditions.

Italtal partners with ECI Telecom

Italtel signed a partnership agreement with Israelian company ECI Telecom aimed to supply advanced telecom solutions to service providers worldwide.

Hansenet sold to Telefonica by Telecom Italia

HanseNet, a German retail broadband carrier is being sold by Telecom Italia to Telefonica, one of Telecom Italia’s main shareholders.

MC-link Alpikom merger

Rome-based ISP provider MC-link and Trento-based ISP provider Alpikom will merge by the end of the year. They are both focused on SMEs customers and they will continue to do so as a merged company.

MC-link took a controlling stake of Alpikom earlier this year and the new merged company will employ over 100 people with estimated revenues of € 28 m.
