The National Regulatory Authority (AGCOM) introduced new consumer protection rules basically banning high-priced premium-rate voice calls.
Unless subscribers specifically request access to them, telecom operators must disable access to the 89x premium-rate services. The 89x prefix will be the only one available for high-priced VAS services. All other prefixes used so far for such services in Italy will be dismissed.
New pro-consumer rules will be also applied to mobile VAS services, including SMS-based ones.
