The Ministry of Communications received 179 starting bids for the WiMax auction.
All but 2 of the 29 bidders presented valid starting bids. No one was able to get a license in this preliminary round, so all licenses will be awarded after the real auction process, due to start next February 13.
Had the auction ended today, the Italian Treasury would have raised about € 50 m.

After four rounds of bidding nobody was still able to win a licence.
In the meantime, the money cumulatively commited by bidders grew to 30% over the base price.
Today the auction continues
After 7 rounds total bidding was 46% higher than the base prices.
A few players abandoned, among them Wind.
Auction still on its way. Bids more than doubled to reach a cumulative € 106 m so far.
