Line rental to go up 1.5%

The monthly rental charge for Telecom Italia’s retail customers will go up 1.5% from next January to € 14.80.

Cisco and Italtel to upgrade Fastweb’s NGN network

Fastweb has chosen to enhance its national network with the Cisco Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) architecture. This upgrade, implemented by Italtel, a Cisco strategic alliance partner, will expand Fastweb's national network capacity and enhance quality-of-service (QoS) capabilities in order to support the rising demand for standard- and high-definition video services and the continuing growth of its consumer and business customer base.

WiMAX frequencies available from June 2007

After a long row amont its Ministers, the Italian government finally agreed to free 35+35 MHz in the 3.4÷3.6 Ghz band (currently used by the Armed Forces) for WiMAX use by June 2007.
