Milan to sell its fiber optic networks

Metroweb, a company controlled by the city of Milan, is considering selling its fiber optic and cable duct metropolitan infrastructure.

Originally part of Fastweb, Metroweb dug furiously the Milan metropolitan area during the dot-com era, burying abundance of ducts and fiber optic cables, now leased to major telecom operators.
The likely buyer is the British private-equity fund Stirling Square.
