Italtel to lay off 400 people

Italian telecom equipment manufacturer Italtel announced its intention to lay off 400 people in its Italian sites.

The management said the company is facing diminishing orders from its top customer Telecom Italia.

Telit helps Magneti Marelli to supply telematics solutions

Telit Wireless Solutions and Magneti Marelli, the car part suppliers owned by Fiat Group, reinforced their cooperation to develop innovative telematics solutions for the automotive market.

Tiscali expands ULL sites

Tiscali will expand its Italian infrastructure opening about 200 new ULL (Unbundling Local Loop) sites by mid-2010 adding them to the 486 sites already in operation.

LTE trial in Turin

Telecom Italia is now operating a pre-commercial trial of “4G” LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology in Turin.
